What's New at PAAC
May 7, 2010
The PAAC board, committees and volunteers have accomplished a lot in the past few months!
- Many PAAC board members were in attendance at the recent ACO (ADHD Coaches Organization) Conference in Chicago (April 30-May 2). Several board members were presenters at the conference, giving PAAC a strong presence there.
- At an ACO “member share and network event” at the conference members of the PAAC board had a table to answer questions about PAAC. We received a lot of positive feedback from attendees who seemed excited to learn what PAAC is all about.
- Also at the ACO Conference, PAAC Board President Barbara Luther handed out the most recent version of our proposed PAAC Competencies to ACO members who expressed an interest.
- In terms of next steps to finalize the Competencies, we will review all comments received from ACO as well as the board. We will then make edits as necessary, and present a final draft to the board for approval. We expect to have those steps completed by the end of May. Based on comments received so far we are confident the PAAC Competencies speak specifically to ADD coaching and are measureable for certification purposes.
- The final draft of our Ethics statement was completed a couple of months ago and since then has been reviewed by several people in other organizations who have commented positively about it. It is now in the hands of an attorney for final review.
- We have added a membership article to our bylaws to comply with requests from the IRS regarding our pending 501(c)(3) status, and look forward to receiving approval for that status in the next few months.
- The strategic planning committee continues to meet and work on creating a strategic plan for PAAC. Several steps have been completed and the committee is currently focusing on creating an organizational model for PAAC that would provide high value to members and the ADHD community as a whole, while ensuring the organization is robust and sustainable. We expect to report more about that in the next couple of months.
Once current initiatives are completed, many follow-up steps will have to take place. There are committees forming now to work on certification requirements and path. The board hopes all systems and processes will be up and running so that PAAC can begin enrolling members in the fall of this year (2010). We’re excited, and hope you are too! Stay tuned for more!.

The PAAC board continues to meet monthly and is getting a lot accomplished in terms of the preliminary work of getting PAAC up and running as an organization. Just a few of the recent developments include:
- We have brought in an outside facilitator to expedite the final round of conversations around the development of our PAAC ADHD Core Coaching Competencies. This step follows several rounds of development of draft competencies by our Board and numerous other volunteers over the past few months. We hope to have final competencies written and approved by year-end.
- We are now engaged in the second draft of a comprehensive Ethics Statement, and hope to have that completed by year-end as well.
- We have finished development of our vision statement and and are currently working on a final draft of our mission statement.
- We have committees working on the development of both our short and long range objectives and strategies as an organization, as well as the development of a budget for the organization.
- We have filed incorporation papers for 501(c)(3) status and expect the approval process for that to be completed in the next 6 months.
- We applied for and have been issued an EIN number from the government.
As you can see, there is activity on many fronts! We’re excited about
the progress we’re making, and thankful for the many volunteers who are
putting their time and energy into creating the foundation for a great
organization.
